Eclectic Conversations - Horsemanship Dispatches with Jana Šedová
Emily and Jana, with the help of translator Jitka caught up on each other's lives and discussed their shared passion for horses. They examined the differences in horse culture and working styles between the Czech Republic and the United States, and shared personal anecdotes about their experiences of her time studying horsemanship in the United States. The conversation also touched on the differences between English and Western-style riding, as well as the vaquero and cowboy styles. Jana explained that she prefers the buckaroo style of working with horses, which she believes makes the horses happier and more willing to cooperate.

Eclectic Conversations - Horse Conformation Volume 3 with Deb Bennett, Ph.D.
Просмотров 150Месяц назад
Rounding out our discussion on Dr. Deb on her masterful book collection! Volume III is the biggest of the set for a good reason: historically the limbs have been almost the sole focus of conformation judging. While Volumes I and II seek to correct this imbalance with extensive discussion of the conformation and function of other body zones, without question the limbs and hoofs are of great impo...

I love second-hand bookshops. I came across one of Mark's books in one little shop. I read it in two days and am always on the lookout for more. I have always loved horses. A young colt came into my life during a drought season, and we went on a lovely journey together. Finances resulted in my having to give my beautiful horse away to a very capable horseman who cared for the colt until his last day. I stayed away from horses after saying goodbye to my horse, knowing I would never be able to have a horse in my life due to my employment being rewarding but not that financially rewarding. I'm a disability support worker. I was avoiding heartbreak. I think Then horses started to come back into my life 30 years later. Now I have a riding lesson once a week and volunteer at a horse rescue near my house. I love all the horses that come and go from the rescue. It's a special place. There's been a lot of cutting of corners and inward struggle to get to a place where I can be with the horses in a way that is nice and relaxed. It's very nice when some of the long-term horses at the rescue recognise me and call out to me at the rescue. It's terrific fun riding the horse riding school horses who really have been great teaches. They all recognise me and are awesome horses to ride. I haven't read all of Mark's books yet. I'll get to this new one eventually.

Jim Rowe used to tell us in college dressage classes that the horse collects by using his stomach muscles.. He had a 9th grade education- and i bet didn't know the word rectus abdominus, but he did truly understand collection- Also he was a student of Dorita Konyot, and I think her dad, and brothers.. best Bruce Peek

De. Bennett Phd is the best she walks around knowing all this stuff.. At her level its literally endless amounts of knowledge about how all of the horses anatomical features fit together and reciprocate to enable the horse to properly carry the rider.. best Bruce Peek

Great interview; I met Jim Overstreet at a Buck Brannaman clinic at Big Sky, Montana once. We were both taking pictures to write articles, (I'm not a writer), and he said that I could go first since I was further along, or maybe he was just being kind. It was the first article published on Buck and went into Western Horseman. It was very kind of Jim to let me do that. The Overstreets are well respected in Montana. The rightness of so much of what Jim says about Tom makes me smile. I watched Tom at an indoor arena outside of Dillon, MT in the Grasshopper Valley. There were over a dozen riders and the grandstands were filled. Tom sat by himself on a chair close to the horses passing by and worked with the different riders, their horses, questions from the grandstands and three or four dogs playing at his feet, all at once. One small dog was being bullied by the others and Tom sorted that out among the dogs so quietly and gently that most people weren't even aware of the dogs since he never touched or referred to them. Late that afternoon he sat outside the arena on a little folding stool that he carried and answered questions. Kindness was his being, something without effort that you actually felt.

It is an immeasurable pride to know that the biggest name in the equestrian scene in Brazil has its due recognition in the USA as well. Professor Borba revolutionized the way professionals approach horses and life in Brazil. It is an immense pleasure and privilege to learn from him, even if I cannot be with him as often as I would like. Even so, I make a point of consuming all types of content made available by him on the media. I am sure that, as far as we who like horses above anything else, Professor Borba's teachings, lessons and ideas will live on in the minds and hearts of people in the next generations who are inspired by and inhale horses.

Dr. Deb opened my eyes--really opened my eyes--about how to evaluate horses. I pore over everything she writes because I can't absorb all of the information at once. I have to go back and go back and, more often than not, back again! I would encourage everyone to buy her conformation books. She considers this latest work her opus, but there's so much to learn in everything she's done over the decades--the work she did for the Arabian Express; the first columns she wrote for EQUUS, most of which ended up in Priciples of Conformation Analysis (still available); the latest columns she has penned for EQUUS, and now this masterpiece. She's the real thing! Buy. Them. TODAY.

Dr.Deb I can listen to for hours! In person, or via phone as I have done many times. She is brilliant. She speaks the truth within her knowledge base. Her new expanded books are helping my students. They are excellent. This is Liz Graves commenting here not Dave as Dave controls my online existence as I do not excel in it and do not care to. I live with horses and hate the new-age tech. If you feel you are struggling with these books then go back and buy her conformation workbook #1 to get a base knowledge. My gut as a teacher feels the interviewer did not understand or expected what was coming in this interview and the depth of person she was about the experience. I hope she ponders Dr. Deb's words and thinks beyond an interview moment but an educational one for her as well.
